With this immortal come-on line Danny (Phil Daniels), a would-be manager, fast-talks aggressive punk singer Kate (Hazel O'Connor), into letting him boost her career. Recruiting an oddball band, they play the sleazy North London pub circuit. The audiences respond to the ferocious Kate and her hard-edged songs. As she and Danny become lovers, they hit the big time with an extraordinary concert at London's Music Machine. But success has its down-side. Signed up by a record company giant, the band splits and Kate becomes swallowed up in the ruthless manipulation of its publicity machine. As she falls victim to the image of her own songs, pressure is piled upon pressure - and something has to crack... A raw slice from an extraordinary era, 'Breaking Glass'features an impressive supporting cast including Jonathan Pryce, Jon Finch and Richard Griffiths.
